What is GORE-TEX?

GORE-TEX is a high-tech laminate of the unique GORE-TEX membrane and textiles with exceptional durability, flexibility and performance. This membrane allows perspiration to pass through from the inside, while blocking wind and rain from the outside. There is a wide variety of GORE-TEX fabrics, adapted for different purposes and activities. Some of these extremely durable to mechanic wear and stress, like garments for extreme mountaineering, while garments for long distance runners prioritize low weight, flexibility and comfort. Users of Gore Tex garments often subject them to challenging wear and tear under extreme conditions. Even if the product warrant does not cover garments ruined by normal wear or damage through accidents, GORE-TEX do everything they can to as far as possible offer repairing the garment at a reasonable cost. GORE-TEX provide Sustainability through longevity and transparency

GORE-TEX measure the carbon footprint of their products during their whole life cycle, from cradle to grave. This life cycle-analysis has clearly proven that the by far most efficient way to lessen a garments climate impact, is to increase its longevity. Sustainability is for clear reasons a hot topic, discussed and dissected in infinity. Choices of materials, certifications and storytelling are common components in arguing for a garments level of sustainability. In the end its longevity is inevitably the factor that decides how sustainable it is. Garments considered expired are thrown away, ending up as land-fill are one of todays biggest sustainability issues. GORE-TEX technology

GORE-TEX is created to withstand wind and rain. The GORE-TEX membrane is designed to block wind and water from the outside and at the same time let humidity evaporate through from the inside. The membrane has 1,4 billion microscopic pores per square centimeter. This makes every pore 20 00 times smaller than a drop of water, corresponding to rain from the outside. At the same time, the pores are 700 times larger than water vapor, which makes it possible for perspiration to pass through the membrane. Through this perfect balance, GORE-TEX becomes the perfect barrier between you and the elements of weather.
